Oscar The Cockatoo with no feathers
Oscar is a female cockatoo (despite her gender, she was given a male name) with no feathers that lives at Humane Society of Broward County in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
Oscar wasn’t born bald. She suffered from a fatal and highly contagious disease known as Psittacine Beak and Feather Disease (PBFD). The disease which targets only parrots, impair immune system, leading to fatal infection that damage the feathers and beaks. To date, there is no cure for this deadly disease. Medical opinions from the vets indicated Oscar has only six months to live, but that was 13years ago.
Despite of her illness and abnormal physical appearances, Oscar is no different from any other cockatoos. She remains energetic and probably the best, one and only naked dancing cockatoo!
She maybe touted as the ugliest parrot in the world, but I feel she’s a bird with huge personalities! Her positive spirit and strong determination to live has inspired me to live my life to the fullest!

Oscar looks like a bald chicken! LOL. Anyway I’m really curious, are cockatoos more prone to PBFD?

PBFD is a fatal and contagious disease that targets all parrots, and not limited to cockatoos.
